Livorno, Lucca, the Fortress City & Pisa

Depart from the pier and drive to the Tuscan town, Lucca. Lucca was originally colonized by Romans and has retained its layout of a Roman military camp with its two main streets running perpendicular to one another. Coupled with a complicated system of narrow alleys and oddly-shaped squares, this was a difficult town to penetrate. Beginning in the 1550s, Lucca became an important agricultural center and experienced a renewed interest in building and infrastructure due to its population increase. Your guided tour of Lucca will start with the Piazza Anfiteatro, a Roman Ampitheater, now a public square surrounded by shops. You'll also walk along Via Fillungo, the main pedestrian street in Lucca before visiting the Basilica of San Frediano, the oldest church in Lucca, and San Michele Church, known for its intricate facade. After your walking tour, you will have free time to explore Lucca before your drive to Pisa. In Pisa you'll visit Piazza del Miracoli, a collection of four notable buildings with the most famous being the Leaning Bell Tower. Don't miss the chance to take a picture "propping up" the Leaning Tower or to enjoy an Italian gelato in a local café during your free time at this stop. Afterwards, you'll begin the drive back to your ship. Please note: We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring local currency.

Livorno, Tuscan Countryside, Montecarloe di Lucca & Il Poggio Farmhous for Lunch

Embark on a scenic journey from Livorno aboard a comfortable air-conditioned deluxe coach, meandering through the picturesque Tuscany countryside for an approximately 45-minute ride. The landscape unfolds with low hills and olive groves, vineyards, and cypresses. Upon reaching Montecarlo in Tuscany, a quaint village nestled amidst historic ramparts, guests will 45 minutes of leisure to explore and enjoy a coffee or snack at the local shops. From here, the journey continues towards Fattoria Il Poggio, traversing the wine road through hills adorned with centuries-old vineyards and charming rural villas from the 16th and 18th centuries. At the farm, steeped in history dating back to 1845, visitors embark on a guided walk through the garden to the vineyards. The Rossi Family has run this farm since 1963 and welcomes guests to taste their renowned wines and extra virgin olive oil, complemented by local appetizers. A delicious Italian farm-style lunch awaits, providing an authentic culinary experience. At the end of the lunch, guests will return to the coach for their scenic drive back to the pier. Please note: The wine cellars won't be visited, as they are approximately 5 kilometers away. Your wine tasting will include 6 wines (three white and three red) and an example lunch menu may include a Tuscan platter with ham, finocchiona, and pecorino cheese with house made pappardelle pasta and beef ragu.

Livorno, Truffle Hunting with Lunch

Depart from Livorno by deluxe air-conditioned coach for a 45-minute scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, bathed in a soft amber light. The rolling hills are adorned with olive groves, vineyards, and cypress trees, seemingly arranged to delight the human eye. Upon arrival near San Miniato at the renowned Savini truffle factory, guests can enjoy a coffee break, freshen up, and meet their local guide for the truffle hunting experience. The group will then proceed to Villa Sonnino, where they will join the hunters and their trained dogs for a 45-minute truffle hunt, guided by experts. After the hunt, guests return to the Savini factory to savor a delicious truffle-themed lunch. Following lunch, there will be an opportunity to purchase truffle products, olive oil, and other local delicacies before boarding the coach for the return journey to Livorno. Livorno, Florence On Your Own *

This is the best way for seasoned travelers to explore Florence on their own. Your bus transfer will take you from the pier to a central location in Florence. Your coach escort will walk with you for about 10 minutes until you reach your central meeting point and will advise you of the pick-up time for the return journey. You will have approximately four hours to shop and explore on your own. At the designated time, please return to the central meeting point for your ride back to the pier. Please note: Guide services, taxi transfers, entrance fees and lunch are not included in this tour price. It will be your responsibility to be at the meeting point at the given return time. Board your motor coach for the 45-minute scenic drive to Monaco Rock where elevators and escalators take you up to the Old City. Pull up a chaise bleu on the wide sunny Promenade des Anglais and watch the world sail by. Or stop for bouillabaisse, a specialty of the area, in a local restaurant. 

Nice, Nice Old Town *

Leaving behind the port , you will reach the heart of town. Your coach will take a drive uphill to the residential area of Cimiez and finally return to the centre. Your will leave your coach and start your guided walking tour to discover the historical centre with your guide. This area is clearly marked by a strong Italian influence. Stroll through the narrow streets with tall buildings leaning one against the other – opening on picturesque squares.

Visit the fruit and food market, offering every day besides Mondays a wide range of wonderful flowers, vegetables, fruits, bread, cheeses, olives, spices, Lavender, soaps and much much more. After the walk with your guide you will have some time at leisure to further walk though town, relax in the new garden area of Nice the “coulee verte” or do some shopping. You will meet back with your guide at a pre-arranged time and place and walk back to the port.

Nice, St Paul De Vence *

Depart the port of Nice for the 60-minute drive along the Promenade des Anglais of Nice to the highway. The scenery changes drastically from coastal to rural while approaching the hilltop village of St Paul de Vence which was founded in the 9th century. By the 16th century, the beleaguered village was fortified by ramparts, which still stand today. St. Paul De Vence has also retained its medieval charm, one of its primary draws. This haven for artists boasts a number of fine museums such as La Fondation Maeght , which features contemporary works from Braque and Giacometti, among others. The local artisans are highly regarded for their weaving, woodwork and jewelry pieces, which are on display in the many galleries. After your guided walk you will have free time at your leisure to discover, visit some art galleries, shop or simply relax in one of the cafés and mingle with the locals. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring water, a hat, sunscreen and local currency. There is a steep incline to reach the village of Saint Paul de Vence, uneven and cobblestone streets. There is no inside visit included in this tour.
