Venice Orientation Lagoon Tour with Transfer to Airport *

Venice Orientation Lagoon Tour with Transfer to Airport *
Disembark, meet your tour guide and drop off your luggage at their storage facility to start the tour. Venice is composed of more than 100 tiny islets, packed closely together around canals. Venice city is in a lagoon, protected from the sea by a long strip of land called the Lido. You will visit two islands- Murano and Burano . Nearly half of the lagoon's islands are deserted but the main islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello are well worth a visit. In 1291, when furnaces were banned from Venice as a fire precaution, the manufacturers of fine glassware were transferred to Murano. Glassware was one of the few Venetian exports and as such, the secrets of this skillful craft were tightly guarded. Glassmaking was considered a privileged occupation, and glass artisans were allowed to marry into the nobility. Today, the Murano products of blown-glass mirrors, chandeliers, goblets, and intricate works of art are renowned worldwide. There will be time for a visit to one of the many workshops and for shopping. The island of Burano will be next. Brightly painted houses decorate this small and cheerful fishing village. Burano is well known for its lace-making. In the 16th century, the lace industry was at its peak, and Burano was cited throughout Europe for producing the finest lace . You will have the chance to admire these beautiful works that require hours of labor, and maybe even purchase some, if you like. At the end, motor launch will transfer you back to the port where your luggage will be ready to be re-collected, you will then board your private vehicle to the airport. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a sun hat.

Messina, Messina Walking Tour *
This tour provides highlights of Messina's historical city center. Begin your guided walking tour with a walk along one of the city's most important streets, Via Garibaldi. This ancient thoroughfare is packed with historic sites and remarkable buildings. You'll see the Town Hall and admire Catalani's Church. The church is a jewel of Arab-Norman architecture that, amazingly, has withstood the onslaught of the 1908 earthquake and two world wars. Taste a typical Sicilian granita at a local bar and enjoy some free time for shopping. Next, proceed to Cathedral Square, where you will visit the Treasury. This repository contains the beautiful Madonna golden mantle, as well as a collection of important historical artwork donated by kings, bishops, noblemen and even local people as a token of faith and thanksgiving. You'll also step inside Messina's famous cathedral, almost entirely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1908. It features an interesting finely carved 15 th to 16 th century central doorway. The stately bell tower, 100 feet tall, holds the largest astronomical clock in the world. Its animated, mechanical statues are only seen at noon. And don't miss the Orion Fountain in Cathedral Square, adjacent to the duomo. Built in 1547, its polygonal basin portrays Orion - one of the legendary founders of Messina. Please note : This tour requires continuous walking. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Modest attire is required for visiting churches or cathedrals; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; shorts are not allowed. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
Messina, Classic Taormina *

Messina, Classic Taormina *
Taormina perches on a terrace overlooking the sea and epitomizes the legendary beauty of Sicily. A one-hour drive brings you to the outskirts of this picturesque site which was founded in the 3rd century B.C. Although almost completely renovated by the Romans, it now reflects a medieval character that is truly captivating. After arriving near Taormina's center, your guide will accompany you on a walking tour along cobblestone streets to Palazzo Corvaja , a 15th century building whose arched windows and doorways reflect its strong Arabic influence. Next, you will stroll to the 3rd century Greco-Roman Theater , spectacularly situated overlooking Mount Etna and Naxos Bay. Renowned for its expansive size and unique acoustic qualities, it is still used for open-air concerts. After free time to stroll or shop along the famous Corso Umberto, you will rejoin the coach for the 60-minute journey back to the yacht. Please note : Buses are not permitted to enter the town of Taormina. Guests will get to the city center from the parking lot by lifts. Keep in mind that Taormina can be very crowded.

Less than two hours from Rome, the port city of Naples was founded by the Greeks, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is unlike any other city in Italy. It is a busy, bustling place where mini-operettas take place on street corners, Vespas scoot across the pedestrian piazzas, the small narrow streets are hanging thick with laundry and graffiti is everywhere. But Naples is full of archaeological treasures that are among the most impressive in the world, including breathtaking frescoes and sculptures. Its beautiful palaces, castles and churches make Rome look provincial. And the food in Naples is among the best you'll find in Italy, serving decadent pizza, pasta, coffee, and seafood dishes you'll never forget.
Naples, Royal Palace of Caserta
Naples, Royal Palace of Caserta
Board your coach for the Caserta Royal Palace. Blending the grandeur of Versailles, the elegance of Rome, and the charm of Tuscany, the Caserta Royal Palace and Park, located north of Naples, was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, one of the most renowned Italian architects of the 18th century, following the vision of Charles of Bourbon III. A masterpiece of Italian Baroque, Caserta was revolutionary for its time. The palace and its vast gardens span 11 acres, featuring pools, fountains, and cascading waterfalls that are perfectly aligned to create a stunning 'telescope effect,' stretching endlessly into the horizon. You'll enjoy a guided visit of the palace with an educated guide to walk you through the palace's history. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore and ship before you board your coach back to Naples. Please note: We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layered clothing.
Naples, Herculaneum
Naples, Herculaneum
Board your coach for a scenic 45-minute bus ride to Herculaneum, where you will step back in time to explore this ancient city. Founded around the 4th century BC, Herculaneum mirrored Naples in its geometric layout, featuring east-west "decumano" (main streets) and north-south "cardines" (narrower streets). Unlike Pompeii, which feels as if its 5,000 residents departed just moments before the eruption, Herculaneum exudes a distinct atmosphere. Though smaller, Herculaneum is better preserved because, while Pompeii's wood was destroyed by hot ashes, Herculaneum was enveloped by hot mud that shielded its buildings. This has preserved its marble floors, mosaics, paintings, and carbonized wood. Explore its opulent properties, including the House of the Mosaic, the House of Deer, the Thermae (baths), and the House of Carbonized Furniture. After your guided tour, return to meet the yacht. Please Note: We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes.
Naples, Pompei

Explore the well-preserved remains of baths, theaters, temples, and bustling markets, and marvel at the grand forum, featuring the impressive Arch of Nero. This immersive tour offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient Roman life. After your exploration, return to the pier to rejoin your Windstar ship.
