With 3,000 years of history, you can't turn around in Athens without encountering the past. The Acropolis, a UNESCO site, the Plaka, and the Acropolis Museum are must-sees. But leave time if you can to climb Pnyx Hill for photos of the Parthenon at sunset, to buy your own set of Greek komboloi (worry beads), and to explore the metro stations that serve as mini-museums for the relics that are constantly being unearthed.

You'll want to be on deck today as we transit the narrow Corinth Canal with other private yachts and Greek mail steamers. It's a shortcut reserved for petite ships like ours, and as we cruise between the narrow limestone walls we are the envy of all the ancient Romans who once portaged their ships along this very route before there was a canal.  Transit through the Corinth Canal is subject to local conditions and may occasionally be impacted by closures due to natural causes or construction activity beyond Windstar’s control. Should a closure occur, the itinerary will be updated accordingly, and booked guests will be notified as soon as information becomes available.

In antiquity Delphi was one of the world's most important religious centers. The Sanctuary of Apollo attracted a host of pilgrims who came to consult the oracle. Even now an aura of mystery surrounds the ruins of Delphi,a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exposed on a rocky slope. For sheer grandeur of natural beauty combined with ancient ruins, there is probably no other spot on earth that rivals Delphi. Visit the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, where the celebrated oracle Pythia dwelt. Her ambiguous prophecies were known and respected all over the ancient world. Visit the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Way, the amphitheater, the best preserved stadium of Greece, and the Castalian spring, where in ancient days the pilgrims had to wash before they were allowed to consult the oracle. In the Delphi museum, see such treasures as the Omphalos, which marked the center of the world, and the magnificent bronze Charioteer, one of the finest pieces surviving from the 5th century BC. Please note: As this tour involves walking around the Archaeological Site and in Delphi, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Itea, Monastery of Ossios Loukas

Departing from the quayside, your motor coach will proceed along a picturesque and twisting road on a 45-minute drive where you can enjoy the relaxing views of the typical Greek countryside. Standing impressively on the brow of a peaked hill facing south, the majestic Monastery of Ossios Loukas commands a spectacular view of the adjacent valley. In some ways surpassing the famous Byzantine Church at Daphne, the monastery forms one of the most impressive memorials to the artistic vitality of the empire, during the revival of prosperity under the Macedonian Dynasty (865 - 1059). The monastery bears the name of a local hermit, the Blessed Loukas (Ossios Loukas) of Stiri, who was famed for his austerity, the dignity of his life, his prophecies and the miraculous cures he performed. Departing the monastery your tour will return to the port via the town of Arachova, famous for its handmade woolen carpets. Here you will have some free time to browse the picturesque streets and shops. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. The monastery is not wheelchair accessible.

Dubrovnik, Old Town Highlights

Explore the beautiful city known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic' on this walking tour. Take a walk along the Stradun, the glass-like main promenade that runs from the Pile to Ploce gates, following the line of the channel that once divided the town into two parts. Along the way, view some of the landmarks of Dubrovnik. See outside of the Franciscan Monastery with the Old Pharmacy, opened in 1317 and the third oldest in Europe, the Big Onofrio's Fountain that brought water to the town, the once mint and customs office that used to be located in the Sponza Palace, the Church of St Blaise - Dubrovnik's patron saint, the magnificent Rector's Palace and many other edifices created through centuries that made Dubrovnik the UNESCO site it is today. Upon walking along the main promenade continue toward the City Walls. The City Walls were completed in the 13th century. The ramparts are intact and encircle the old city with a circumference of more than a mile and a half. Ascending the stairway at Pile Gate, you will soon reach the top of the wall where your guide will lead you on a walking tour along the Walls. You will see the gorgeous Minceta Fortress, St. John`s Fortress and Bokar Fortress. Reaching the Stradun, you will come in the very center of the Old Town and will have an opportunity to explore the town on your own before returning back to the yacht. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes, sunscreen, and sunglasses, and bring a bottle of water.

Your tour will begin on the pier and soon you will find yourself in the heart of this magnificent Old Town. This walking tour includes a visit to the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Zadar and built in 1324. It is dedicated to St. Anastasia, whose stone sarcophagus is in the apse to the left of the high altar. Further on your way you will pass close to the Church of St. Donatus which is believed to have been built at the beginning of the 9th century. It is circular in plan, with three naves. You will visit the 16th century St Mary Church with a Romanesque bell-tower built at the beginning of the 12th century. On the upper floor of the convent, open to the public are rooms containing a collection of goldsmith's work, relics and other valuable items. Your tour will end with a Marascino Liqueur Tasting. Liqueur production in Zadar is almost 400 years old. This liqueur is a bittersweet, clear liqueur flavored with Marasca cherries, which are grown in Dalmatia, Croatia, mostly around the city of Zadar. Honey is also part of the ancient recipe. The recipe for this liqueur was created by the apothecaries of the Dominican monastery at Zara, now Zadar, in Dalmatia, at the beginning of the 16th century.
