Join a local family on their fishing boat for a scenic sail among sea life and coastal cliffs. You will meet your hosts, the Alcock family, aboard their 47-passenger Cape Islander, and set off along the coast near Fishing Point. During your excursion, you might see humpback whales, which typically stay along the coast in September. Keep your eyes open, too, for dolphins, seals, sea turtles and minke, fin and orca whales. As you explore the coast and keep watch for spouts, the Alcocks will regale you with tales both real and rumored in this land of Vikings, moose, salmon and caribou. After a 2-hour cruise and an enriching up-close view of this remote and tranquil coastline, you will bid your new friends farewell and return to your ship. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in warm layers.

Red Bay is one of the most significant maritime archaeology sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once the center of a vast 16th-century Basque whaling operation, the area preserves shipwrecks, artifacts, and historic landscapes that reveal the origins of industrial whaling. Museums and guided walks bring this extraordinary history to life, offering insight into early transatlantic exploration and the harsh realities of life along the Labrador coast.

Located within Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bonne Bay and Woody Point sit amid an ancient landscape shaped by glaciers and tectonic forces. Fjords, mountains, and coastal ecosystems create a natural classroom where geology, marine life, and human history intersect. Small but information-rich museums and interpretive centers near the waterfront deepen understanding of the region’s natural history.
Bonne Bay, Journey To The Center Of The Earth
Bonne Bay, Journey To The Center Of The Earth
Woody Point on the south side of Gros Morne National Park provides easy access (10-minute drive) to the Gros Morne's Discovery Centre (primary interpretation centre). An additional 10-minute drive will take you to the Tablelands which is the landform that gave the park its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. You will walk on the Tablelands trail looking at its unique physical nature and also looking at the distinctive plants that make this landform home. You will also get a great view of Gros Morne, the mountain the park was named after. A Parks Canada Interpreter will join you at the Tablelands to ensure that you get to hear about this region's unique geology. The Discovery Centre features exhibits that tell the story of the region's many geological highlights. After the morning excursion, you will return to the pier in Woody Point and go back on board the yacht for lunch while the yacht repositions to Norris Point. Guides and buses will then reposition to Norris Point on the north side of the park to meet you for the afternoon excursion. Please note: Guests are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. This port call will require a tender/Zodiac landing at the community dock. There is a port fee that the Harbour Master will want to discuss with the Ship's Agent. Because of the limited supply of buses in the region (and short distances) passengers shuttle between the various stops using school buses.
