The popular tourist spot of Calvi with its crescent-shaped bay and gorgeous beaches, is distinguished by a large medieval citadel that overlooks the marina.  Built between the 13th to the 16th centuries, it is basically an entire small town enclosed by fortified walls but offering panoramic views of the harbor and the Corsican coast. Portoferraio, Port Azzurro and Napoleon Summer House

On the lovely island of Elba, visit the country residence of Napoleon who spent nine months on the island. Depending on the day of the week, the tour will visit either Napoleon's in-town residence of Villa dei Mulini, or his country residence of Villa San Martino. At Villa San Martino, highlights include Room of the Doves, with a painting on the ceiling of two doves bound by the same ribbon and a knot that tightens as they fly further away from each other. The Egyptian Room has a circular ring of Zodiac signs painted on the ceiling. You can also view Napoleon's bedroom, dressing room, study and stroll through the nicely manicured gardens. Napoleon's town residence, Villa dei Mulini includes the study, reception hall, Napoleon's bedroom and his library. You will make a stop in Porto Azzuro summer resort area with a short time to explore. The coach can get very warm. Please bring extra water to beat the heat and dress in layers for the unpredictable summer rainstorm. Return to the ship in time for lunch on board, or stroll around the corner to the Old Port of Portoferraio for a typical Italian meal. Please Note: Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. As temperatures can be high, guests are advised to bring along a hat and bottled water.

Portoferraio, Countryside Drive & Wine Tasting

Combine a visit to the enchanting village of Porto Azzuro with wine tasting at a vineyard once frequented by Emperor Napoleon. After leaving the busy capital of Portoferraio, your 30-minute drive will feature magnificent views of Lacona and Laconella Bays as well as Golfo Stella as you pass rocky beaches and high cliffs. Ahead lies Porto Azzuro, which boasts an ancient medieval fortress and picturesque fisherman's harbor. You will have free time to browse among its many tempting shops. Back aboard the coach you will continue to the Azienda Agricola La Chiusa estate, whose vineyard directly overlooks Portoferraio. This estate hosted Napoleon Bonaparte on two separate occasions. As the vineyard prides itself on quality over quantity, its vines are always pruned very short. During your 60-minute stay there will be an explanation of wine production at the farmhouse before you will have the opportunity to sample the extra virgin olive oil and taste the wine. Mahon, Ancient Sites - A UNESCO Partner Tour

This tour will offer the opportunity to visit several archaeological sites of the Talayotic culture of Menorca, a candidate to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021. In addition, Menorca has already been declared a Biosphere Reserve back in 1993 by UNESCO. The chosen archaeological sites are set in very well preserved rural and natural environments, currently managed as farms. The first visit will be in the prehistoric village of Cornia Nou, located near Mahón city. Different talayots - like towers - and temples were built on a little hill. You will have the opportunity to see several monuments ranging from the Bronze Age to the Romanization of the island. You will make a stop in a local cafeteria to have a snack. Then, visit the site of Rafal Rubí (Alaior), an emblematic bronze age funerary monument, unique of the island of Menorca. You will see the funerary chambers and the funerary rites will be explained by an archaeologist. Visit the taula temple enclosure of Trepucó (Mahón). Here you can see the talayot, like a big tower built with large cyclopean stones, and behind it, you will admire a large taula and a beautiful sanctuary surrounded by a 18th century defensive wall, made by the Spanish army when Saint Philips Castle was besieged by the Spanish troops in the year 1782, when the island was under British government. The prehistoric wall that is surrounding the village was remodeled and improved, following canons of the influence Carthaginian fortification. Also, a magnificent talayot - a big prehistoric tower - can be seen at this site which stands out as having one of the most spectacular taula sanctuary enclosures. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your camera.

Mahon, Taste of Menorca

This tour offers a quick visit to the most enjoyable locations in the island of Menorca, a small paradise on its own. On the way to Fornells, you will be able to enjoy a scenic journey along the main road of the island that links the beautiful city of Mahon with Ciudadella, famous for its beautiful houses, and grandiose traditional architecture. The Port of Mahon is the biggest natural port in the world (only after Pearl Harborr) and the most secure natural port of the Balearic Islands. Fornells, situated at the mouth of a long bay, is a charming fishing village where the natural beauty of this bay is underlined by the sober architecture of the white houses with green window shutters. Upon arrival in Fornells, you will have some free time for photo taking before heading to Monte Toro, the highest mountain of the island (1,171 feet) where you will admire both magnificent sights of the island and will also have the chance to visit the small chapel dedicated to the "Monte Toro" Virgin. Leaving Monte Toro, you will continue to Sant Patrici, a charming little town famous both for its beautiful views and the locally produced cheese (a strong tasting variety, mahonés, that delights people from all over the world). You will have a chance to taste the products. You will visit the Museum of Menorca dating from 1889. The actual building is a Franciscan Convent from the 15th century with a beautiful courtyard. The museum gives an overview of Menorca's interesting history. Time permitting you will be offered the possibility of tasting another great local product - free of charge - the alcoholic drink known as Gin Xoriguer, the Mahon brewed, version of the "conventional" Gin. This is often tasted with lemonade in a cocktail known as "pomade" and is very commonly drunk by locals. The possibility of a guided walk around town will also be available upon arrival, or you can return to the ship comfortably in a coach. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes as the ground is uneven in some places.

Mahon, Sightseeing North, South & Mahon

Depart the pier for the approximately 20-minute drive through the fertile north countryside to the fishing village of Fornells a picturesque fishing village, set on a magnificent bay of the same name. An important harbor in days gone by for ships to take shelter from the strong north winds, today this village is now a pleasure ground for watersports which include windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. Fornells is also very well known locally for its fish restaurants and the King of Spain is among the many famous people who come here to eat the Menorcan Caldereta, a dish based on local lobster. Your tour will continue to the largest sandy beach on the island, Son Bou Beach which backs onto the open countryside and is relatively undisturbed in terms of modern development. However, there are still some hotels, holiday complexes, a few shops, bars, restaurants, and a discotheque nearby. Upon arrival, a brief photo stop will be made at this scenic locale. Return to Mahon where you will leave the coach at the main square and walk downhill back to the harbor through the center of town. The walk through this attractive town gives one a glimpse of the different phases in the island's turbulent history, and the many architectural styles reflecting the frequent changes of rule. The center offers an interesting mix of narrow streets lines with whitewashed houses, wide open squares and grand historical buildings. Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of walking and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair. Distance covered is approximately half a mile (1km) on mainly flat areas with some uneven surfaces, gravel and cobblestones. There is a slight incline in Fornells from parking area to village. Wear comfortable clothing, walking shoes and sun protection.

Mahon, Taste of Menorca

This tour offers a quick visit to the most enjoyable locations in the island of Menorca, a small paradise on its own. On the way to Fornells, you will be able to enjoy a scenic journey along the main road of the island that links the beautiful city of Mahon with Ciudadella, famous for its beautiful houses, and grandiose traditional architecture. The Port of Mahon is the biggest natural port in the world (only after Pearl Harborr) and the most secure natural port of the Balearic Islands. Fornells, situated at the mouth of a long bay, is a charming fishing village where the natural beauty of this bay is underlined by the sober architecture of the white houses with green window shutters. Upon arrival in Fornells, you will have some free time for photo taking before heading to Monte Toro, the highest mountain of the island (1,171 feet) where you will admire both magnificent sights of the island and will also have the chance to visit the small chapel dedicated to the "Monte Toro" Virgin. Leaving Monte Toro, you will continue to Sant Patrici, a charming little town famous both for its beautiful views and the locally produced cheese (a strong tasting variety, mahonés, that delights people from all over the world). You will have a chance to taste the products. You will visit the Museum of Menorca dating from 1889. The actual building is a Franciscan Convent from the 15th century with a beautiful courtyard. The museum gives an overview of Menorca's interesting history. Time permitting you will be offered the possibility of tasting another great local product - free of charge - the alcoholic drink known as Gin Xoriguer, the Mahon brewed, version of the "conventional" Gin. This is often tasted with lemonade in a cocktail known as "pomade" and is very commonly drunk by locals. The possibility of a guided walk around town will also be available upon arrival, or you can return to the ship comfortably in a coach. Mahon, Ancient Sites - A UNESCO Partner Tour

This tour will offer the opportunity to visit several archaeological sites of the Talayotic culture of Menorca, a candidate to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021. In addition, Menorca has already been declared a Biosphere Reserve back in 1993 by UNESCO. The chosen archaeological sites are set in very well preserved rural and natural environments, currently managed as farms. The first visit will be in the prehistoric village of Cornia Nou, located near Mahón city. Different talayots - like towers - and temples were built on a little hill. You will have the opportunity to see several monuments ranging from the Bronze Age to the Romanization of the island. You will make a stop in a local cafeteria to have a snack. Then, visit the site of Rafal Rubí (Alaior), an emblematic bronze age funerary monument, unique of the island of Menorca. You will see the funerary chambers and the funerary rites will be explained by an archaeologist. Visit the taula temple enclosure of Trepucó (Mahón). Here you can see the talayot, like a big tower built with large cyclopean stones, and behind it, you will admire a large taula and a beautiful sanctuary surrounded by a 18th century defensive wall, made by the Spanish army when Saint Philips Castle was besieged by the Spanish troops in the year 1782, when the island was under British government. The prehistoric wall that is surrounding the village was remodeled and improved, following canons of the influence Carthaginian fortification. Also, a magnificent talayot - a big prehistoric tower - can be seen at this site which stands out as having one of the most spectacular taula sanctuary enclosures. Mahon, Sightseeing North, South & Mahon

Depart the pier for the approximately 20-minute drive through the fertile north countryside to the fishing village of Fornells a picturesque fishing village, set on a magnificent bay of the same name. An important harbor in days gone by for ships to take shelter from the strong north winds, today this village is now a pleasure ground for watersports which include windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. Fornells is also very well known locally for its fish restaurants and the King of Spain is among the many famous people who come here to eat the Menorcan Caldereta, a dish based on local lobster. Your tour will continue to the largest sandy beach on the island, Son Bou Beach which backs onto the open countryside and is relatively undisturbed in terms of modern development. However, there are still some hotels, holiday complexes, a few shops, bars, restaurants, and a discotheque nearby. Upon arrival, a brief photo stop will be made at this scenic locale. Return to Mahon where you will leave the coach at the main square and walk downhill back to the harbor through the center of town. The walk through this attractive town gives one a glimpse of the different phases in the island's turbulent history, and the many architectural styles reflecting the frequent changes of rule. The center offers an interesting mix of narrow streets lines with whitewashed houses, wide open squares and grand historical buildings. Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of walking and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair. Distance covered is approximately half a mile (1km) on mainly flat areas with some uneven surfaces, gravel and cobblestones. There is a slight incline in Fornells from parking area to village. Wear comfortable clothing, walking shoes and sun protection.
