Quick Getaways: Belgium: A Sweet Getaway
May 19, 2026 — May 22, 2026
Starting from
LONDON / HMS BELFAST → LONDON GREENWICH
3 Nights on Star Pride
Short but incredibly sweet, this 3-day mini-cruise shows off tiny Belgium’s oversized charms from medieval streets to romantic canals and mouthwatering chocolates. Board your ship in London right next to HMS Belfast (Tower Bridge), one of the most exclusive cruise ports in the world just across the Thames. We’ll cross the English Channel to Ostend, the sea port for Bruges. The whole center of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and our evening departure gives you time to explore. Next, we’ll make our way up the River Scheldt to Antwerp, a yacht exclusive port. This city has its own share of historic guildhalls and churches. But it’s also replete with modern architecture, museums filled with Flemish masters and small-cozy beer cafes. Plenty to fill every hour until we head back across the Channel to London.

London, one of the world's top destinations, is a city begging to be explored. Steeped in history, the well-known sites of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Trafalgar Square beckon, or get a modern perspective from the top of the London Eye. This cosmopolitan city offers all the world cuisines you're used to, but there are still places to find traditional British fare like bangers and mash or shepherds' pie.

Sail the storied River Thames into or out of the heart of London, cruising beneath iconic Tower Bridge—a privilege only smaller ships can enjoy—and passing the Tower of London, the historic Royal Observatory at Greenwich marking the Prime Meridian, and the beautifully preserved Cutty Sark, the legendary 19th-century tea clipper. As you continue eastward, the skyline gradually gives way to the open waters of the English Channel.

Sail inland from the North Sea along the Scheldt River, passing the historic Fort Liefkenshoek before continuing toward the vast port of Antwerp, where flat landscapes, historic trading towns, and quiet countryside unfold along the banks.

TYou will start your tour through the typical Flemish countryside with a scenic drive to the quaint little village of Damme, a typical Flemish village that has retained its historic character. You will drive through Damme at a slow pace so that you have plenty of photo opportunities. Continue your tour by driving through the outskirts of the historical city of Bruges. Afterwards, you will be transferred south of Bruges, where you will have the opportunity of making a visit to the impressive Castle of Loppem. This castle has a particular and homogenous style, and the architecture and the interior have been kept in their original state. It was in 1856 that the future castellans, Baron Charles van Caloen and his wife, Countess Savina de Gourcy Serainchamps, appointed the English architect Edward Welby Pugin (whose father, August Welby Northmore Pugin, participated in the building of the Westminster Houses of Parliament) with the task of designing the plans. Pugin's task was followed by Jean Bethune, who provided a more Flemish character to the construction. Loppem Castle later came to play a prominent role in the political history of Belgium at the end of World War I. Please note : This excursion does not enter the city walls of Bruges, you only visit the outskirts of the city. This tour is ideal for guests who prefer minimal walking. For safety reasons, guests must be able to enter/exit the motor coach independently.
