Isles of Scilly, St Martins Vineyard Tour and Tasting

Enjoy an escorted walk up through the small, charming island of St. Martin's to reach the island's local vineyards for your exclusive tour & tasting, followed by free time in the Highertown. Take the local tender to St. Martin's, a quiet island with some of the best beaches and most spectacular views in the Scillys. From here, you will be escorted up to the upper town of Hilltop, passing by charming buildings and appreciating the tranquility of this island with only 120+ inhabitants. After 15-30 minutes of walking, reach the St. Martin's Vineyards where your self-guided tour and tasting will commence. During your visit, you will meet with the owners James and Holly (subject to availability) who will introduce you to their vineyard before you can set off to explore at your own pace. Established as a vineyard in 1996, the first vines to be trialed were white varieties with the first vintage in 2000 yielding just 120 bottles. Today, the vineyard produces five varieties; three white, one rose and one red. The current owners moved to the island in early 2020 to continue the traditional management of the vineyard while increasing focus on biodiversity and sustainability, including a move towards organic production. Of course, no visit would be complete without a tasting of some of the splendid wines. Next, head to Highertown, along the island's one and only concrete road. Highertown is home to a charming gallery showcasing local artists, a flower farm and a thriving artisanal bakery. After free time to browse at leisure, walk back to the pier for the boat transfer back to the yacht. Please note: Guests need to be fit walkers and able to walk at a decent pace for 2 miles on rough track with 2 steep inclines. There is no option to wait and be picked up later, due to tides the boat often has to leave from the other end of the island and at a set time to not run out of water. Comfortable sturdy footwear is recommended and bring along raingear. This tour is unguided however an escort will accompany the group. Timings, order of tour and the duration may change subject to tides and conditions.

Scilly Isles, Exotic Tresco Abbey Gardens

Tender ashore to the island of Tresco for your self-guided exploration of the famed Abbey Gardens. Tresco is best known for its Abbey Gardens, laid out by the remarkable Augustus Smith - a wealthy merchant banker who purchased the islands from the Duchy of Cornwall in the mid-1830s. Work on the gardens commenced in 1834 on the site of the old Benedictine Abbey. By building tall wind-breaks, Smith channeled the weather up and over the network of walled enclosures he built around the Priory ruins. He also carved the three terraces from the rocky, south-facing slope looking towards St. Mary's. Tresco, shrugging off salt spray and Atlantic gales is host to 20,000 exotic plants, many of which would stand no chance on the Cornish mainland, less than 30 miles away. Yet even at the winter equinox more than 300 plants will be in flower. All in all, the garden is home to glorious species from 80 countries, ranging from Brazil to New Zealand and Burma to South Africa. Subsequent generations have continued the development of the Garden, which is today a major attraction of the islands. Please note: Access is not a problem, the gardens are terraced but most have slopes that can be negotiated by a wheelchair although there are some steps. Wheelchair guests must be accompanied as the guide cannot undertake responsibility for them during the tour. Dress for the weather and comfortable sturdy footwear is recommended. If guests struggle to walk a distance there is a complimentary small shuttle bus from the pier to the gardens.

Scilly Isles, St Marys Garrison Walk

The Isles of Scilly are an archipelago of five inhabited islands and other small rocky islets situated 28 miles from Lands End, the most southwesterly point of the British Isles. With a total population of just over 2,000, an exceptionally mild climate, beautiful flowers and countless white sandy beaches, they are also known for their friendliness, birds, clear turquoise sea, and ancient sites and monuments. Your local guide will meet you at St Mary's quay and give a short introductory talk about the history of the Isles. Then venture off on foot to enjoy a scenic tour of the Garrison on the isle of St Mary's and look across to Bryher and Tresco, marveling that even though you can walk between them, they are so utterly different. Enjoy the beautiful views before ending up in Star Castle to enjoy a tea or coffee in the 16th Century Castle Dungeon Bar. Star Castle is now a hotel, but it was built as an impregnable fortress back in 1593 and gets its name from the shape of its eight-sided central keep, curtain wall and dry moat. Just to the right of the castle you'll see a campsite and just right of this a footpath branches right and takes you down to Steval Point Battery, which marks the island's most westerly point. On a clear day you'll enjoy fabulous views over to St Agnes and distant, lonely Bishop's Rock Lighthouse. Following refreshments return to the pier with your guide. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. subject to the ship's tender schedule, after the tour, it may be possible for you to explore Hugh Town at your leisure which is the main and largest settlement on the Island, before returning to your ship.

Dingle, Crystal and Distillery

Depart from Dingle pier and embark on a journey to the Dingle Distillery, where you'll enjoy a guided tour of the whiskey, gin, and vodka production process. The Dingle Whiskey Distillery was founded by three visionary entrepreneurs: Oliver Hughes, Liam LaHart, and Peter Mosley, the same trio behind the Porterhouse Brewing Company, one of Ireland's pioneering craft breweries since 1996. At a time when craft beer was considered a bold and unconventional idea in Ireland, Oliver, Liam, and Peter's passion for quality brews eventually led them to whiskey. On your tour, you'll learn about the history of the distillery and the intricacies of the production process. The name Ard a' Ratha which means 'high hill of the fort' comes from the earthen ring-fort, which crowns the hill to the northeast of the town. Ardara has been long associated with the tweed and knitwear industries. From the 1870s this trade became a cottage industry with home spun and hand dyed woollen and tweed items being created. The Ardara Heritage Centre , formally the town Courthouse, profiles the development of the tweed industry. To this day several shops in the town still sell high quality tweed and knitwear. Londonderry, Glenveagh National Park by E-Bike

After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a leisurely 75-minute trip into the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains. This is one of the most beautiful, least populated areas in Ireland with a picture-postcard setting around every turn. Upon entering Glenveagh National Park , you will receive a safety briefing and then hop on an electric bike and pedal off into the wilds. The bikes have an electric motor for extra power when needed, so it's easier to make your way up and down the hilly terrain. Other than the Park's shuttle bus, vehicles are not allowed beyond the car park, which makes your cycling experience very safe and pleasant. The park sprawls over 40,000 acres of mountains, lakes and glens, all of it pristine and full of wildlife. You may catch sight of a herd of red deer bounding through the park, as they have been in Ireland since the last Ice Age and thrive here. You can bike to the waterfall at the head of the glen. The park contains about 247 acres of natural and semi-natural woodland. As you continue your travels you're sure to be surrounded by oak, birch, hazel, yew and aspen trees towering over lush green carpets of mosses and ferns. Have your camera handy. In addition to the red deer, peregrine falcons and an occasional golden eagle call this park their home so be on the lookout. Bird lovers should listen for the wood warbler, a rare bird in Ireland but annual visitor to Glenveagh with a unique call, which sounds like a coin spinning on a plate. The park was once the estate of John Adair, a wealthy 19th century landowner. He began building a storybook castle in 1867, designed to look like a medieval fortress, complete with a parapet and a 4-story rectangular keep. Londonderry, The Walled City of Derry

Arriving in the original city of Derry, you will walk along the top of the towering 26-foot-high walls, which were built in between 1613 and 1618 and remain among the best-preserved fortified walls in Europe. From this vantage point, you can easily make out Londonderrry's medieval city plan, with the principal streets radiating from the center to the old gateways. Another point of interest is Guildhall, a late Gothic administrative building with 23 stained-glass windows that depict guilds for carpenters, musicians and others. Your tour will begin as your coach travels through stately Donegall Square in the heart of Belfast. Among the square's architectural treasures is City Hall. Completed in 1906, the 300-foot long main façade is topped with a copper dome that rises 173 feet. As you make your way around the city you'll see many more Victorian buildings with the same distinctive verdigris green domes. Also in the square stands Belfast's oldest library, the Linen Hall Library, which was established in 1788. Continuing on, you'll journey past Queen's University, renowned for its world-class achievements in cancer research and environmental research. Just 12 miles from Belfast in the historic village of Hillsborough sits the distinguished Hillsborough Castle. Built in the 1770s, the mansion is the official residence of the British Royal Family when they're visiting Northern Ireland. You'll set out on a guided tour through this lovely 2-story late Georgian manor adorned with beautiful furniture and master pieces of art. Visit the State Room, where all visiting dignitaries are formally welcomed. Next door is Candlestick Hall where the panels around the room, made in the early 19th century, are made from hand-painted wallpaper and depict scenes from Cervantes' Don Quixote. Visit the castle's two dining rooms: the Red Dining Room, which looks out over what is claimed to be the largest rhododendron bush in Europe, and the State Dining Room where official state dinners are served. Depart the port of Belfast and drive 75 minutes inland through the Northern Counties of Down and Antrim. Stop to photograph Dunluce Castle, a dramatic and picturesque ruin on a rocky headland. Next you will arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Giant's Causeway Site. The Interpretative Centre there will allow you to decide for yourself which explanation of how the causeway's 40,000 basalt stones were formed is most likely (or simply most interesting). To stroll the Giants Causeway is to voyage back in time. Your imagination will travel along stepping-stones that lead to either the creative turbulence of a bygone volcanic age or into the myths and legends of the past. You can board the "Causeway Coaster" minibus to bring you to the causeway itself. Enjoy lunch at a nearby hotel. Your return journey will take you along Northern Ireland's Antrim Coast Some of the worlds most spectacular and unspoiled scenery is to be found in the county of Antrim. A stop will be made for you to view Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge. Spanning a chasm some 80 feet deep, its construction once consisted of a single rope handrail and widely spaced slats. The single handrail was subsequently replaced by a two-hand railed bridge, the current cage bridge was installed during Easter 2000. Travel via the Coast Road to reveal an unrivaled seascape, towering cliffs, white sandy beaches, tranquil glens and lush forest parks. From the magnificent vantage point at Fair Head and Murlough Bay, on a clear day you can enjoy uninterrupted views of Scotland's Mull of Kintyre, as well as the wild and mysterious island of Rathlin just seven miles off the coast.
