Bastia, Bastia & Taste Of Corsica *

Bastia, Bastia & Taste Of Corsica *
Bastia was founded by the Genoese in 1380, when they were looking for a naturally sheltered port to replace the ancient Roman city of Mariana and Biguglia (which had been destroyed by the Corsicans in 1372). The Genoese needed a city and port which could ensure contact between their "homeland" and their "colony." Even if this small port was swept by terrible winds, it was protected by a rock, easily defensible, and upon which a dungeon (or bastiglia) was built- and hence the name of the town Bastua. You will be met by your tour guide for a walking visit of the old City and the citadel . During your city tour by foot you will enjoy a stop for a Corsican spuntinu and tasting of Corsican specialties. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring euros.

The numerous religious buildings dotted all over the island bear witness to the profound religious fervor of its inhabitants and their attachment to the Catholic faith. Despite this, the collective consciousness remains steeped in many pagan traditions, with relics of ancient beliefs. The mystical spirit of Corsica finds its true expression during the great Christian festivals, however the barrier between the natural and supernatural world is extremely permeable and Corsica is teeming with visionaries, faith healers, and mediums. This walking tour will take you to some purportedly haunted sites , and give you an overview of the superstitions and local legends which still hold sway. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring Euros. You will have about 30 minutes to shop on your own.

Alghero, Alghero and Wine Tasting
Alghero, Alghero and Wine Tasting
Meet your guide at the pier and board your coach for Alghero, where you will enjoy time to explore this charming seaside town. Continue along a scenic panoramic road to the Belvedere of Capo Caccia for a photo stop, taking in sweeping views over the coastline and crystal-clear waters. Proceed to a local farmhouse estate where you will be warmly welcomed by the owners, Antonella and Annamaria, a mother-and-daughter team from an ancient Sardinian noble family. Passionate and dedicated entrepreneurs, they personally oversee every detail of cultivation and production on their property. Their estate, Leda’ d’Ittiri, is located just a few kilometers from Alghero and the area’s beautiful white-sand beaches, at the foot of Monte Doglia. From its peak, admire views of the Bay of Porto Conte and the Capo Caccia promontory. The estate spans 18 hectares of carefully tended vineyards and olive groves. Dedicated to producing limited quantities of high-quality wines and olive oil, the estate offers an intimate and authentic countryside experience. Enjoy a guided tasting of local wines and premium olive oil, paired with pecorino cheese, home-prepared olives, and traditional bread. Learn about regional traditions and artisanal production methods before returning by coach to your ship.

Golfo Aranci, located on Sardinia's northeastern coast, is a picturesque town known for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters. The town is surrounded by nature reserves, making it perfect for bird and marine life watching. Golfo Aranci is also a great spot for diving, snorkeling, and other water sports. The promenade is lined with seafood restaurants and cafes, offering delicious local cuisine.

In this enchanting city the past and present intersect in perfect harmony. Casually intermingled among ancient ruins and majestic cathedrals are the trappings of a modern metropolis: Skyscrapers, cafes, boutiques selling designer footwear. But of course what you seek first in the heart of Rome is its breathtaking history. A good place to begin is the Vatican, with its Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Works by Bernini, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, and Raphael are just a few of those on display, any one of which is worth hours of contemplation. Then the ancient ruins-Colosseum, Forum, Circus Maximus. And of course the Trevi Fountain for the obligatory coins promising your return to the Eternal City.
