Often described as sterile yet incredibly resilient, this storied region has thrived for centuries through the hard work of its people on both land and sea—it was the only area of northern Corsica to remain under the control of the Signori after the 1358 rebellion, and it prospered through trade, exchanging wine for wheat with the Tuscan coast. Along the way, admire the distinctive "case di l'Americani," grand houses built by Corsicans returning from America in the late 18th century. Your journey begins along the Cliff Road, offering unmatched views over Bastia and the coast, before reaching the picturesque village of Miomo and the charming fishing port of Erbalunga, known for its colorful houses and vibrant atmosphere. Crossing to the west coast, you'll take in the marina and striking cliffs of Pino, followed by the sheer cliffside village of Nonza, dominated by a Genovese tower overlooking a vast grey beach. Please note that due to strict bus parking restrictions in Nonza, a stop there can be difficult to arrange during the season; if possible, a brief photo stop will be made to capture the incredible scenery. On the way back toward Bastia, a comfort stop will be made at Patrimonio, well known for its famous wines. Bastia was founded by the Genoese in 1380, when they were looking for a naturally sheltered port to replace the ancient Roman city of Mariana and Biguglia (which had been destroyed by the Corsicans in 1372). The Genoese needed a city and port which could ensure contact between their "homeland" and their "colony." Even if this small port was swept by terrible winds, it was protected by a rock, easily defensible, and upon which a fortress (or bastiglia) was built - and hence the name of the town Bastia. You will be met by your tour guide for a walking visit of the old City and the citadel. During your city tour by foot you will enjoy a stop for a Corsican spuntinu and tasting of Corsican specialties. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring euros.

Begin your guided e-bike tour at the bike shop located at the entrance of Bastia’s commercial port, where you are fitted with your bicycle and receive a brief safety orientation before setting off toward Place St. Nicolas, one of the city’s main squares. Alghero, Bosa & Malvasia Tasting

Board your motor coach for the 75-minute drive to the charming town of Bosa, located at the mouth of the river Temo. You will see the well-ordered streets, square, riverside promenade, and the Old Quarter. Bosa is the center of olive oil and wine production and is also famous for lace and filigrana jewelry and art. You will have free time to wander the streets of Bosa and possibly find a craft shop where these beautiful crafts are produced. Rejoin your group for a Malvasia wine and cookies tasting. Malvasia wine is produced in western Sardinia. These grapes are used to produce white (and more rarely red) table wines, dessert and fortified wines. Rising dramatically from the sea, Castelsardo has long served as a defensive stronghold and strategic lookout over the coast. The Middle Ages left the most visible mark on the town, whose medieval character is reflected in its ramparts, steep stairways, and narrow lanes.
