The island of Vulcano, once called Hierò Thermessa is one of the most interesting in the Aeolian archipelago because of the exceptional nature of its landscapes and the variety of its landscapes and the variety of its volcanic phenomena. Dedicated to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and metal working; Homer described the island as the workshop of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire. Your tour will begin with a boat trip around the island with a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni ,Grotta del Cavallo, and Vulcanello . The only landing place is the Porto di Levante. Vulcano consists of three old craters. The first, in the south between Monte Aria and Monte Saraceno, has been extinct for centuries; the GranCratere , on the other hand, is still active, the last eruption occurring in 1890. Vulcanello, the third crater, is a promontory on the north eastern tip of the island created almost 2,000 years ago by an eruption. The climb up to the middle crater is particularly interesting and you can reach the top in less than an hour. Today you will have the opportunity to visit the amazing Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This splendid archaeological park consists of eight temples (and various other remains) built between about 510 B.C. and 430 B.C. You will see the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concordia (one of the best preserved), the Temple of Heracles, the Temple of Olympian Zeus ( the largest temple), the Temple of Castor and Pollux, the Temple of Hephaestos, the Temple of Demeter, and the Temple of Asclepius (the God of Medicine). Sorrento, Herculaneum

The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. Coupled with a complicated system of narrow alleys and oddly-shaped squares, this was a difficult town to penetrate. Beginning in the 1550s, Lucca became an important agricultural center and experienced a renewed interest in building and infrastructure due to its population increase. Your guided tour of Lucca will start with the Piazza Anfiteatro, a Roman Ampitheater, now a public square surrounded by shops. You'll also walk along Via Fillungo, the main pedestrian street in Lucca before visiting the Basilica of San Frediano, the oldest church in Lucca, and San Michele Church, known for its intricate facade. Nice, St Paul De Vence *

Depart the port of Nice for the 60-minute drive along the Promenade des Anglais of Nice to the highway. The scenery changes drastically from coastal to rural while approaching the hilltop village of St Paul de Vence which was founded in the 9th century. By the 16th century, the beleaguered village was fortified by ramparts, which still stand today. St. Paul De Vence has also retained its medieval charm, one of its primary draws. This haven for artists boasts a number of fine museums such as La Fondation Maeght , which features contemporary works from Braque and Giacometti, among others. The local artisans are highly regarded for their weaving, woodwork and jewelry pieces, which are on display in the many galleries. After your guided walk you will have free time at your leisure to discover, visit some art galleries, shop or simply relax in one of the cafés and mingle with the locals. Leaving behind the port , you will reach the heart of town. Your coach will take a drive uphill to the residential area of Cimiez and finally return to the centre. Your will leave your coach and start your guided walking tour to discover the historical centre with your guide. This area is clearly marked by a strong Italian influence. Stroll through the narrow streets with tall buildings leaning one against the other – opening on picturesque squares.

Visit the fruit and food market, offering every day besides Mondays a wide range of wonderful flowers, vegetables, fruits, bread, cheeses, olives, spices, Lavender, soaps and much much more.
