Bocas del Toro on Bastimentos island was visited by Columbus in 1502 and then built up with colorful and Caribbean-style clapboard houses by the United Fruit Company in the early 20th century.   Situated on the beautiful Bocas del Toro archipelago, the laid-back and friendly community is a great combination of races and ethnicities living harmoniously. West Indians, Latinos and Extraneros (the resident gringos) make this an easy place to feel right at home and embrace the relaxed Caribbean vibe of the town. Not far from town is the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, as well as two national parks, La Amistad and many banana plantations.

Your coach will pick you up from the ship and take you through the La Manga residential area, known for its exclusive mansions and impressive villas and photo stop at San Felipe Fortress before dropping you off at La Marina Park. You can explore the beautiful walled city on your own at your leisure as you walk down old alleyways and past colonial buildings. Cartagena, Colombian Coffee Experience

With this excursion you will fill your cup with the bold history of Cartagena and the rich goodness of pure Colombian Coffee. Your adventure will begin with a 15-minute motor coach ride to San Felipe Fortress, built in the 17th century. You will make a photo stop there before continuing on for a sightseeing tour of the Old City. You will visit a beautifully restored colonial house where you will get a good idea about colonial architecture and restoration. Cartagena: Cartagena City Highlights

The magnificent city of Cartagena, once a preferred target for pirates and the treasure chest of the Spanish Main, is yours to explore as you embark an air-conditioned bus or mini-bus today. On tour, you will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide as you travel past marvelous Republican architecture. You will see the Manga residential area, where some of the aging mansions have been restored to their original splendor. Stop for 45 minutes to explore the Fort of San Felipe de Barajas, a 17th century construction acknowledged to be the most important work of Spanish Military engineering in Latin America. At Las Bovedas (the Dungeons), about 20 minutes is allowed for handicraft shopping and for rubbing elbows with the local artisans who proudly display their works for you. Pass through Simón Bolívar Square and the Inquisition Palace before continuing on to the Cathedral, also called The Minor Basilica, it was the first church built in the city in 1537. Next stop is the Church of San Pedro Claver -the patron saint of slaves. You will find Colombia's famous native gem-the emerald-along with handicrafts and leather goods shops. You will have approximately 30 minutes to shop before returning to the ship. Please note: Guests who remain in town for shopping will have to return to the ship on their own.

This nighttime guided tour will take you through the flavors of the neighborhood and the history of Getsemani. Your first stop will be to taste Colombian Coffee, a well-known Cartagena specialty. Our first stop will be at the historical Bull's eye - this site was used by the United States Air Force during World War II for bombing practice purposes. From our truck, you will have a birds eye view of this enormous training target. Next, we will visit the Bos di San Antonio Cave. Here, you will discover the different shapes and sizes of the impressive stalagmites and stalactites in this cave. After this stop we will drive past the enormous wind turbines that supply electricity to the island. Leaving the Curaçao desert, you will continue to Shete Boka National Park. The windier and rougher the weather, the better the show over here. The old labor houses have been transformed into 5-star suites, giving this hotel a historic and luxurious feel. After your hotel visit, you will walk towards the famous floating bridge that connects both sides of the city with each other. From here, you'll cross the waterway and head to Willemstad's historic downtown district. See Fort Amsterdam, finished in 1635 this fort is now home to the governor. First, you'll take a moment for a safety briefing and paddling instructions for your 2-person kayak. Your stable, sit-on-top kayak is equipped with a comfortable backrest seat, life vest, a waterproof bag for your personal belongings and, of course, paddles. Off you go, into the calm waters. You'll enjoy Bonaire's Caribbean shore as you kayak over shallow water, filled with colorful sea life. Keep an eye out for pelicans and turtles! Two guides will accompany you all the way. The bay is always protected from the elements. Your destination will be a beach in the southern part of the Bonaire Marine Park and an exquisite snorkeling place, excellent for all skill levels. Bonaire has a long history of marine preservation and is world renowned for its snorkeling. This area is the perfect spot to introduce yourself to its spectacular underwater sights! Pull your kayak right onto the sandy beach, and moments later you will be slipping into the warm water with your snorkel gear and enjoying the breathtaking coral and the many colorful tropical reef fish. As you float effortlessly in the crystal-clear water, look for fish like blue tangs, damsel fish and wrasses. Other sea life abounds, as well; if you're lucky, you may spot a hawksbill, a green turtle or perhaps even a seahorse. All of your snorkel equipment will be provided, but if you have brought an underwater camera, this would be a great time to use it! The Samur is an authentic Siamese Junk, hand carved throughout with legends of fantasy and full of superstition fed by rituals thousands of years old. On this unique journey, you’ll be transported from your cruise ship pier to the Samur—either by Zodiac or a short stroll, depending on your docking location. You will set sail and glide smoothly under red sail to the beach of the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire. During the sail the Captain will give information about the conditions at the reef (which creatures you will find) and the story about the Siamese Sailing Junk. Once back on board, the Captain will pick out a second snorkel spot for you to enjoy. The tour will end with refreshments on board and a cruise back to shore in time for your beach barbecue. Please note: wear your swimsuit under your clothes, bring a towel, a dry t-shirt or sweatshirt, reef friendly sunscreen, waterproof camera (if you want to record the boulders ashore), and a hat. Participants must sign a waiver before departing the dock. Depending on weather and sea state the snorkel locations might have to be adjusted. Minimum age is 7 years. The only way to experience this natural wonder is with our pre- arranged shore excursion being offered onboard.
