Tangier, Tangier on Foot

Tangier is a fascinating city to visit and contrary to popular belief the movie Casablanca was based on Tangier, not Casablanca. It is an interesting mix of North African, Spanish and French cultures. Your coach will take you on a 30-minute drive to the entrance of the Kasbah of Tangier. Walk inside the Kasbah and then you will head uphill to an area barely changed since Roman times. Back down the hill you will find yourself in one of Tangier's most colorful and bustling areas, the Grand Souk. It is the link between the medina and the new city. You will stop at the Palais Zahia, in the Medina for a refreshment before boarding your coach for the return trip to your waiting ship. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible nor suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Casablanca, Magical Marrakech - Full Day *

You will leave the port of Casablanca in your air-conditioned coach for the 3.5-hour trip to Marrakech ; a comfort stop will be made on the road. On arrival in Marrakech, you'll drive to the Medina where you will start your tour with an inside visit to the Majorelle Gardens . Enjoy a short walk in what was home to the late Yves Saint Laurent and houses a collection of plants from all over the world. Depart from the garden in a horse-drawn carriage Lunch will be served in a Moroccan restaurant in the heart of the Old Medina.. Then you'll continue your tour to the holy site of Medersa Ben Youssef. The current structure of this Koranic school was built around 1570 and is the biggest Medersa (school) in the Maghreb. Then on to the labyrinth of souks. Souk Smarine is a maze of colors, home to a bewildering array of stalls and ateliers devoted to specific crafts. End up at the bustling Djemaa El Fna Square, a multitude of street artists and stalls of dried fruit or orange juice freshly pressed as you watch. This is the beating heart of Marrakech, where fire eaters, mime artisits, snake charmers and street musicians are performing at every turn. You will enjoy a cup of Moroccan tea at a local venue before returning to Casablanca. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and local currency. Casablanca, Imperial City of Rabat *

Depart via motor coach from the pier for your 90-minute ride to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Your first stop will be outside the Royal Palace, then on to the must-see Mausoleum of Mohammed V & Hassan Tower , containing the tombs of the late Moroccan king and his two sons. Your next stop will be to the Kasbah Oudaya Medina , Rabat's old district, full of maze-like streets where you will get a good idea of what a traditional medina in Morocco is all about. Meander down the hill to the Andalusian Gardens for a cup of Moroccan tea as you overlook the river and the city of Sale before heading back to Casablanca. Casablanca, Casablanca Highlights & Hassan II Mosque *

Departing the pier by motor coach you will begin your sightseeing tour of Casablanca at the Place Mohammed V Square , a large area surrounded by impressive administrative buildings. Then it's on to the highlight of your tour - a visit to the inside of the majestic Hassan II Mosque , the third largest mosque in the world and the only one that allows non-Muslims to come inside in Morocce. You will also see that the mosque is the tallest building in Casablanca, by royal decree, so there are no commercial high rise buildings here. Enjoy lunch at Café Chewika or similar. Back on the road, you will travel along the coast admiring the golden beaches along the scenic Corniche . You will make a stop for pictures and refreshments. Then it's on to New Medina, a modern development where you will view, from the exterior, the Royal Palace, the Regional Law Courts. Walk in the Habous Quarter where you will admire the colorful stands where local have in display traditional Moroccan artifacts and fabrics. You will also visit the inside of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and possibly have free time to browse at United Nations Square. Please note: Hats and sunglasses should always be removed before you actually enter a mosque. Wear modest clothing. You will be given a bag to place your shoes at the entrance of the mosque, the bag with the shoes will remain with you at all times.

Departing Funchal, travel through the city centre and past the picturesque village of Monte before ascending to Terreiro da Luta, where sweeping panoramic views over Funchal and the Atlantic set the tone for the day ahead. Funchal, Tobogan Ride & Pico dos Barcelos *

Get ready to fall in love with the lush landscape of Madeira. A 25-minute motor coach drive will take you to Monte situated high in the hills. You will indulge in the fun local past-time of toboggan riding as you take a ride in a wicker chariot through the streets! Funchal, City Highlights and Cable Car *

Explore the adventurous city of Funchal, capital of Madeira and Portugal's largest town. You will board your motor coach for the short 10-minute drive to the center of town. Walk through the vibrant local market, explore the Old Town where the first settlement of the city was born. This old part of the city is characterized by its narrow sidewalk streets and façades of old houses and is considered a historical area of great architectural and patrimonial value. You will climb to Monte by cable car. This village located at an elevation of 1,772 feet high was the last residence of Carlos I of Austria, who is buried in the Church of Our Lady of Monte. Finally you will have a 25-minute drive to visit the Old Blandy Wine Lodge in the center of Funchal which acts as an excellent show place for many the finest wines of Madeira. You will taste four 5-years-old wines accompanied by some delicious snacks. Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Guests must be legal age to consume alcohol. The market and the Old Blandy Lodge are closed Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays all day. A visit to the church of Monte is not included and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Should guests wish to visit it, it is free of charge and they have to be able to climb 171 steps up and 68 steps down. Tour order may vary but all sites will be covered. By using two means of transportation, you will be able to admire fantastic views of Funchal by visiting the most important viewpoints of the city with a minivan. Leaving the pier by minivan or motor coach you will proceed towards Pico dos Barcelos , where you can see distant Funchal and the surrounding villages scattered over the green slopes. Continue towards Cabo Girão , the highest sea cliff in Europe and the second highest in the world. Soaring 1,900 feet, its etched face tells the tale of its volcanic origins. From this impressive promontory, you will have breathtaking views along the island's southern coast. Passing by Estreito de Camara de Lobos , known for its vineyards, you will reach Camara de Lobos , a well-known fishing village. There, you will see its lovely, quaint setting of red-tile-roofed houses clustered on the rocky point and the brightly painted fishing boats anchored in the harbor.The second part of this tour will be by Tuk Tuk , built upon ecological and innovative criteria, directly inspired by the Italian Dolce Vita glamorous style and the iconic 3-wheeled Ape Calessino. Start this walking tour with a visit to Parque de Santa Catarina, one of the most important parks of the city. Continue towards Avenida Arriaga, one of the busiest avenues in the city and taste the famous Madeira wine accompanied by local snacks in a wine cellar located there.
